KENT, Ohio -- The Ohio baseball team (21-15, 12-11 MAC) split a pair of seven-inning games with Kent State (19-19, 12-11 MAC) in a Saturday (May 1) Mid-American Conference doubleheader at Olga A. Mural Field at Schoonover Stadium. The Bobcats fell to the Golden Flashes by a score of 10-4 in game out but rebounded with a 12-6 victory in game two of the twin bill.
Game One: Kent State 10, Ohio 4 (seven innings)
The Bobcats held a 3-2 advantage heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, but the Golden Flashes outscored Ohio by an 8-1 count down the stretch to secure the win.
Senior designated hitter Treyben Funderburg (Beavercreek, Ohio) led Ohio at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored.
Redshirt senior shortstop Joe Weisenseel (Strongsville, Ohio) delivered an RBI single for the Bobcats in the top of the fourth of the inning to give Ohio a 3-2 lead.
Game Two: Ohio 12, Kent State 6 (seven innings)
The Bobcats outscored the Golden Flashes by an 8-2 count over the final three innings to salvage a split of the doubleheader.
Senior left fielder Sebastian Fabik (Lebanon, Ohio) accounted for three of Ohio's nine hits, going 3-for-3 with a home run, a walk, two RBIs and three runs scored. Senior center fielder Isaiah Peterson (Lincoln, Neb.) went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs and three runs scored. Senior designated hitter Aaron Levy (Cincinnati, Ohio) also added a two-run home run.
Ohio will look to finish the weekend with a four-game split against Kent State when the squads square off in the Sunday (May 2) series finale at 1 p.m. ET.
