ATHENS, Ohio – It's Mid-American Conference Championship week for Ohio men's golf and baseball and softball are both in action this week. Check out what's in store for the Bobcats in this week's Paw Prints.
SOFTBALL

The Ohio softball team (17-18, 13-13 MAC) are back in action this week with a doubleheader against Akron (4-32, 3-19 MAC) on Wednesday, April 28. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. at Lee R. Jackson Field in Akron.
The Bobcats are coming off a four-game series at Ball State this past weekend where they went 1-3, while handing the Cardinals only their second MAC loss of the season.
Last week, Graduate Student Mikenzie Vaughn (Kennesaw, Ga.) led Ohio offensively this past week, batting .417 with five hits, one double, one homerun, five runs scored and three RBI. She also registered nine total bases and a .750 slugging percentage. She also recorded one walk with one sacrifice fly and recorded a .429 on base percentage.
The Bobcats and Akron met on April 20 in Athens, where the Bobcats defeated the Zips. 9-1 in five innings and 7-1.
Ohio is off this weekend, but are back in action May 4 when they host MAC-leading Miami for a doubleheader in Athens.
MEN'S GOLF

The Ohio men's golf team in back in action this weekend for the 2021 Mid-American Conference Championships. The two-day tournament will take place at the 7,253-yard Sycamore Hills Golf Club in Fort Wayne, Ind. Par will be set at 72.
Along with Ohio, the other seven teams competing at this year's championship include: Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Miami, Northern Illinois, and Toledo.
The Bobcats last competed April 18-19 at the 2021 Wright State Invitational. The Bobcats finished in second place after the Bobcats tallied round scores of 298 (+14), 296 (+12) and 292 (+8) to finish with an 886 (+34).
Senior Zach Mandry (Solon, Ohio) led the way for Ohio, taking seventh with a 216 (+3) after posting rounds of 73 (+2), 71 (E) and 72 (+1). While in total, four Bobcats finished in the top-30 of the tournament.

The Ohio baseball team (20-13, 11-9 MAC) returns to action this weekend for a four-game series at Kent State (17-18, 10-10 MAC). The Bobcats and Flashes get started on Friday, April 30 at 5 p.m. Both teams are back in action for a doubleheader on Saturday, May 1 starting at 1 p.m., before concluding the series on Sunday, May 2 at 1 p.m.
The Bobcats are coming off a series sweep of Purdue Fort Wayne last weekend. Junior left-handed starting pitcher Joe Rock(Aliquippa, Pa.) was named Mid-American Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week on April 26. Rock dazzled in his ninth start of the season last Friday (April 23) in game one of a doubleheader, striking out 14 Purdue Fort Wayne batters over seven frames while giving up just two earned runs on six hits and one walk as the Bobcats rolled to a 12-2 seven-inning victory over the Mastodons. He earned the victory on the mound in his third complete-game effort of the year, improving to 7-1.
Ohio is back in Athens May 7-9 when the Bobcats host MAC foe Miami for a four-game series.
