Ohio Women's Golf Wraps Up Play at 2021 Akron Invitational

AKRON, Ohio – The Ohio women's goal team returned to action this weekend for the 2021 Akron Invitational at the 6,265-yard Portage Country Club in Akron, Ohio. The Bobcats finished competition in sixth place.

The Bobcats opened the weekend with a 314 before finishing with a 325 on Saturday for two-day total of 639 (+71).

The University of Indianapolis won this year's tournament with a 598 (+30.).

Leading the scoring Bobcats was graduate student Kellen Alsip (Cincinnati, Ohio) who finished tied for 16^th place. Alsip opened the weekend with a 78, before finishing with a 77 on Saturday, giving her a total of 155 (+13).

Sophomore Avery Ovens (Wiloughby Hills, Ohio) finished the weekend tied for 25^th place. Ovens began the weekend with a 76. Before concluding Saturday with an 82, giving her a two-day total of 158 (+16). Junior Catherine Loftus (Roswell, Ga.) finished tied for 27^th place. Loftus opened the weekend with a 77 before finishing with an 82 on Saturday, giving her a two-day total of 159 (+17).

Sophomore Maria Howard (Dublin, Ohio) finished in 37^th place after shooting rounds of 83 and 84, giving her a total of 167 (+25). Rounding out the scoring Bobcats was junior Alicia Porvasnik (Hinckley, Ohio), who finished 39^th with rounds of 87 and 84, giving her a two-round total of 171 (+29).

Competing unattached for the Bobcats was freshman Mariana Vega-Rivera (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) who finished tied for 16^th place. Vega-Rivera opened the weekend with an 80, before finishing Saturday with a 75, giving her a total of 155 (+13).

Also competing unattached for Ohio was Senior Ashley Flynn (Dublin, Ohio), who finished tied for 25^th place with rounds of 78 and 80, giving her a two-day total of 158 (+16).

Up next, the Bobcats wrap up the season at the 2021 Mid-American Conference Championships April 23-24 at the Silverlake Country Club in Silverlake, Ohio.
