FARMVILLE, Va. – The Ohio field hockey team (3-7, 3-7 MAC) returned to action on Monday (April 12), defeating Longwood (4-5, 4-5 MAC), 3-1, on the road.

While Longwood out-shot the Bobcats, 19-10, Ohio's shot selection was more selective, with all 10 shots registering on goal.

Individually, Senior midfielder Emma Spinetto (Louisville, Ky.) led Ohio with four shots on goal and the game-winning goal. Senior midfielder Jillian Shive (Lebanon, Ohio) added four shots on goal and an assist, while sophomore midfielder Lucy Davis (Kettering, Ohio) and sophomore midfielder Katelyn Whittle (Glenwood, Md.) both had one shot and one goal for the Bobcats.

After a scoreless second and third quarters from both Longwood and Ohio, the Bobcats' offense ramped up. In the 53rd minute, Spinetto received a pass from Shive, burying the ball in goal, putting Ohio up, 2-1.

The Bobcats' weren't finished, just over a minute later, Ohio struck again, with Whittle scoring off an assist from sophomore midfielder Sienna Sakich (Powell, Ohio), giving the Bobcats a late 3-1 lead. Ohio's defense held steady over the next seven minutes, sealing the victory for Ohio.
