ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio Volleyball (5-4, 5-4 MAC) team swept Ball State (6-6, 6-6 MAC) on Friday (March 5) in the Convocation Center as the Bobcats bounced back from a tough five-set loss to the Cardinals the previous day.
"It felt like we played a lot more as team today" said redshirt freshman middle blocker Caitlin O'Farrell (Suwanee, Ga.). "Yesterday it felt like we were playing individually, but today it was all team and everybody was playing together. That just helped us finish".
Junior middle blocker Tia Jimerson (Sugar Hill, Ga.) led the Bobcats with 12 kills and hit .409 for the match. She also played well defensively and registered a match-high of four blocks. O'Farrell followed closely behind with 10 kills and a hitting percentage of .474. Sophomore opposite hitter Emily Margolies (Gelena, Ohio) secured 10 kills of her own. She hit .316 and added three blocks.
"It felt awesome," said Margolies. "It was so much fun. I love the girls, and I love playing with my teammates. Just being able to be out there with them and win this game was really awesome."
"I am proud of her" head coach Deane Webb added. "She went out and had ten kills on 19 attempts and hit for a big number. I am just really happy for her".
Senior setter Vera Giacomazzi (San Vendeminano, Italy) posted 33 assets and contributed nine digs. Senior libero/defensive specialist Macy Reihing (Lexington, Ky.) achieved 10 digs, while freshmen Sam Steele (Omaha, Neb.) and Maci Watrous (Coppell, Texas) added eight digs apiece.
Ohio will be back in action again on Monday (March 8) as the Bobcats travel to Ypsilanti, Mich., to take on Eastern Michigan. The match is scheduled to get underway at 2 p.m. ET.
