OXFORD, Ohio -- The Ohio field hockey team (0-2, 0-2 MAC) was edged by Miami (4-0, 2-0 MAC), 1-0, on Saturday (March 13) at the Miami Field Hockey Complex.
A goal in the 59th minute by senior Lexie Nugent broke a scoreless tie and proved to be the difference.
Miami held the advantage in shots (22-6) and shots on goal (15-3) over the Bobcats. Sophomore midfielder Katelyn Whittle (Glenwood, Md.) led Ohio with two shots on goal, and senior midfielder Jillian Shive (Lebanon, Ohio) also logged two shots.
Junior goalkeeper Nele Graner (Bonn, Germany) faced 15 shots on goal, recording 14 saves for the Bobcats over 60 minutes.
Up next for Ohio is a visit to Muncie, Ind., for a pair of matches against Ball State next weekend. The Bobcats are set to square off against the Cardinals on Friday (March 19) and Saturday (March 20), with both matches slated to get underway at 1 p.m. ET.
