Ohio Secures Back-to-Back Victories in North Carolina

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Ohio wrestling team traveled to Boiling Springs, North Carolina to take on George Mason and Gardner-Webb. They defeated both teams with dentical 27-9 final scores, highlighted by Alec Hagan's fall 16 seconds into his bout against Gardner-Webb.

Redshirt sophomore Oscar Sanchez (Genoa, Ohio) won both bouts at 125 pounds by decision, defeating George Mason 8-4 and Gardner-Webb 7-4.  At 131 pounds, redshirt junior Giovanni DiSabato (Hilliard, Ohio) secured a 14-4 major decision victory against George Mason's Michael Rapuano.

The 141-pound bout against George Mason ended with redshirt senior Kyran Hagan (Eureka, Mo.) winning by decision, 5-3. Later, graduate student Mario Guillen (Perrysburg, Ohio) secured Ohio's second victory at 141 pounds with a 7-0 decision over Gardner-Webb.Â

Redshirt senior Alec Hagen (Eureka, Mo.) bounced back from a loss against George Mason, pinning Gardner-Webb's Corbin Dion only 16 seconds into the 149-pound bout. At 157 pounds, redshirt sophomore Jordan Slivka (Indianapolis, Ind.) secured two more victories for the Bobcats. First, with an 8-0 major decision victory against George Mason, followed by a 2-0 victory by decision over Gardner-Webb.Â

Freshman Sal Perrine (Northfield, Ohio) was dominant at 174 pounds, securing a 4-3 victory by decision followed by a fall 3:57 into his match against Gardner-Webb. At 184 pounds, freshman Zayne Lehman (Akron, Ohio) also secured two victories, the first by major decision and the second by decision.Â

Sophomore Jordan Greer (Avon, Ohio) brought home a victory by forfeit at 197 pounds against George Mason and redshirt junior Jordan Earnest (Wadsworth, Ohio) rounded out the day with a 4-2 decision victory over Gardner-Webb.Â
