Ohio Volleyball Sweeps Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Ohio volleyball team (4-15, 4-4 MAC) swept Buffalo (9-12, 2-7 MAC) on Saturday (Oct. 16) to conclude their weekend on the road.

The Bobcats took the match 25-21, 25-16, 25-15, hitting .268 to the Bulls .081. Overall, Ohio finished the match with a total of 49 kills, nine blocks, and 76 digs.

The first set was a back-and-forth battle between the Bobcats and the Bulls. Buffalo got an early lead but after nine ties, Ohio was able get in front and take the set. In the second, the Bobcats took a 6-0 lead to start the set. Two additional five-point runs kept Ohio in charge, allowing them to win set two. Early in the third, the Bobcats went on an eight-point run to pull ahead and secure the final set.

Freshman outside hitter Caroline Clippard (Cincinnati, Ohio) led the match in kills with 16, while fifth year opposite hitter Maggie Nedoma (Brook Park, Ohio) followed with 10. Sophomore setter Tria McLean (Battle Creek, Neb.) led the match in assists, recording 41.

On the defensive side, sophomores Elizabeth Hoerlein (Mason, Ohio) and Sam Steele (Omaha, Neb.) led the match in blocks and digs. Middle blocker Hoerlein registered six blocks, while libero Steele posted 28 digs. Sophomore defensive specialist Maci Watrous (Coppell, Texas) added 12 digs and junior defensive specialist Ciara Livingway (Lake Orion, Mich.) tallied an extra nine.

Up next, the Bobcats will return to the Convocation Center to face Kent State on Tuesday (Oct. 20) at 6 P.M. EST.
