ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio Volleyball team (5-15, 5-4 MAC) extended their winning streak to four games after a victory over Kent State (9-12, 4-5 MAC) on Wednesday (Oct. 20). The Bobcats defeated the Golden Flashes, 3-2 (25-22, 21-25, 25-17, 19-25, 15-11) at the Convocation Center to begin their home stand. Â
The first set was a back-and-forth battle between the Bobcats and the Golden Flashes. Ohio was able to jump in front after a 4-0 run to win the set, 25-22. After falling in a hard-fought second set, the Bobcats pulled ahead early on and held a sturdy lead, winning set three, 25-17. Kent State got to work quickly in the fourth and pulled ahead to force a fifth set. After going on a 3-0 run, the Bobcats achieved an 11-7 lead. A kill by freshman outside hitter Caroline Clippard (Cincinnati, Ohio) sealed the deal for Ohio, allowing the Bobcats take the fifth, 15-11. Â
Clippard led the team in kills with 19 on the night, while junior outside hitter Olivia Margolies (Galena, Ohio) followed with 12. Junior outside hitter/defensive specialist Ashton Webb (Gallipolis, Ohio) led the match with five service aces to give her 10 on the season. Â
Defensively, sophomore libero Sam Steele (Omaha, Neb.) led the Bobcats in digs. Steele recorded 21 digs with junior defensive specialist Ciara Livingway (Lake Orion, Mich.) following behind, tallying an additional 12. Â
