Women's Golf Finishes 8th At Rocket Classic

PORT CLINTON, Ohio --
The women's golf team traveled to participate in the Rocket Classic this week (Oct. 11-12), played at the Catawba Island Club and hosted by The University of Toledo. As a team, the Bobcats finished in eight place at +92. Individually, Ohio's Mariana Vega-Rivera led the way, as she finished T-22 with a score of +21.

The Bobcats finished in a tie for ninth place after their first round, shooting a 324 as a team, scored as a +36 to par. Catherine Loftus carded the best individual score of the first for Ohio, as she shot a 75 (+3). The second 18 holes of the first day saw improvement from the team, as they moved into eighth place with a team score of 313 (+25). Vega-Rivera claimed the best individual scorecard of the second round, shooting a 74 (+2). 

The second day of competition finished with the Bobcats still in eighth place, as Ohio shot a 319 (+31) as a team. Avery Owens was the best scoring individual, as Ohio finished competition with three different players logging the best round in the three rounds. Owens shot a 77 (+5) in the third round, and finished in a tie for 25th place overall for the tournament.

Ohio will wrap up their fall regular season next week (Oct. 18-19), as the Bobcats make the trip to Dayton to participate in the Dayton Flyer Invitational.
