Former Ohio Football Standout Carrie Represents Bobcats in NFL Playoffs

ATHENS, Ohio -- The NFL Playoffs begin this afternoon, and the first of six matchups on Super Wild Card Weekend will feature a former Ohio football student-athlete.
Cornerback T.J. Carrie (Antioch, Calif.) has helped guide Indianapolis to a playoff berth in his first season with the franchise as the No. 7-seeded Colts (11-5) take on the No. 2-seeded Buffalo Bills (13-3) in an AFC Wild Card Game this afternoon. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. ET from Bills Stadium in Orchard Park, N.Y., and the contest will be nationally televised on CBS.
Carrie is in his seventh season in the NFL and first with the Colts after Indianapolis signed him in March to add depth at corner. He has played in 15 games this season, compiling 29 total tackles (22 solo), eight passes defensed, one fumble recovery and two interceptions, including one that he returned 47 yards for a touchdown in Week 3 in a 36-7 win against the New York Jets. He also returned a blocked punt for a touchdown in Week 10 in a 34-17 win over the Tennessee Titans.

Carrie was selected by the Oakland Raiders in the seventh round of the 2014 NFL Draft with the 219th overall pick and spent the first four years of his professional career in the East Bay. The Cleveland Browns signed Carrie as an unrestricted free agent in 2018, where he spent the previous two seasons. For his NFL career, Carrie has played in 107 games with 53 starts, tallying 349 total tackles (280 solo), two sacks, 50 passes defensed, seven interceptions, six forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries.

Carrie appeared in 50 games (36 starts) at Ohio and tallied 165 tackles (108 solo), 3.0 sacks, 27 passes defensed, nine interceptions (two returned for touchdowns) and two forced fumbles. He also added 659 yards on 56 punt returns (11.8 average) and one touchdown. Carrie was an All-MAC Third Team pick as a senior in 2013 after earning Second Team recognition as a redshirt junior in '11.
