ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio Baseball (8-22, 3-6 MAC) team lost a back-and-forth battle with Ohio State (17-16 2-4 Big Ten), 10-8, at Bob Wren Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Redshirt freshman Cole Revels (Charlotte, N.C.) had a career-high five RBI, going 2-for-4 with a home run and a single. Revels scored one run. Senior INF Rudy Rott (Holmen, Wis.) also had a home run and was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and one RBI.

Ohio State jumped on the board first in the top of the third inning. Nolan Clegg hit a two-run home run to right field.

The Buckeyes added a run in the fourth inning with two outs. Brent Todys hit a single to right center field to score Conner Pohl.

Ohio took the lead in the bottom of the fourth after putting up five runs. After loading bases on a Rott single, junior INF Trevor Hafner (Perrysburg, Ohio) walk and Redshirt sophomore INF Michael Richardson's (Cambridge, Md.) fielder's choice, Funderburg drove in a run on an infield single. Revels gave Ohio the lead with an opposite way grand slam over the right field fence.

Funderburg finished the day 1-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored. Hafner scored two runs on two walks. Richardson also scored two runs.

The Bobcats added to their lead in the bottom of the fifth. Rott crushed a home run to left field to make it 6-3. Hafner was then hit by a pitch. After reaching first, Hafner stole second and third before scoring on a throwing error by the catcher.

Ohio State cut the Bobcats advantage to 7-4 in the seventh inning when Clegg scored on a wild pitch. The Buckeyes tied the game in the top of the eighth when Todys hit a three-run home run to left field.

Ohio retook the lead on a Revels single to center field that scored Richardson. Richardson reached on a walk.

The Buckeyes tied the game in the ninth on a Conner Pohl single and took the lead when Dillon Dingler hit a two-RBI double to go up 10-8.

Sophomore LHP Brett Manis (Port Huron, Mich.) was given his first loss of the year after allowing three earned runs in the ninth inning after tossing 0.2 innings.

Freshman LHP Joe Rock tossed 6.2 innings as the starter and allowed three earned runs on seven hits and two walks. Rock struck out three batters and four runs crossed the plate while he was pitching.

Redshirt senior Nick Kamrada (Grand Ledge, Mich.) faced the minimum in the sixth and seventh in 0.2 innings. Junior LHP Nick Byrnes (Cincinnati, Ohio) and freshman RHP Braxton Kelly (Ulysses, Ky.) both struck out the only batter they faced, while sophomore RHP Chace Harris (New Marshfield, Ohio) got one out in 0.1 innings in the ninth.

Ohio will return home this weekend to continue Mid-American Conference play. The Bobcats will welcome Toledo for a weekend series beginning on Friday at 6 p.m.
