ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio volleyball team (13-11, 5-6 MAC) fell to Miami (14-8, 9-2 MAC), 3-1 (30-28, 25-17, 22-25, 25-21), on Friday evening at Millett Hall.

"I liked the effort in the back row tonight," head coach Deane Webb said. "We'll need to do a better job attacking tomorrow."

Ohio was led by junior middle blocker Tia Jimerson (Sugar Hill, Ga.), who had 13 kills on 25 swings for a .320 attacking clip. Redshirt sophomore Dahlias Bouyer (Brownstown, Mich.) also had 13 kills with a .500 hitting percentage. Bouyer had only one error and was two kills behind her career best. Junior outside hitter Lauren Park (Millersburg, Ohio) and junior opposite Maggie Nedoma (Brook Park, Ohio) hit double digits with 10 kills. Freshman outside hitter Olivia Margolies (Galena, Ohio) had nine hammers on 39 swings.

Junior setter Vera Giacomazzi (San Vendemiano, Italy) had 47 assists and recorded her 14th double-double of the season with 16 digs. Giacomazzi helped Ohio record 55 kills and hit .148, including .219 in the third set with 13 kills.

Sophomore libero Emma Tupa (Brecksville, Ohio) had a career-high 31 digs for OU as the Bobcats had 93 as a team. After Giacomazzi's 16, freshman defensive specialist Ciara Livingway (Lake Orion, Mich.) produced 15. Senior defensive specialist Meredith Howe (Grand Rapids, Mich.) had 11. Nedoma posted 10 digs for her 12th double-double of the season.

"It was great to see Emma (Tupa) find such success at the libero position," Webb added. "31 digs in a four-set match is impressive."

Ohio had eight team blocks and Jimerson led the way with seven. Giacomazzi rounded out her complete night with four, while Park and Margolies added two. Bouyer had one stuff.

The Bobcats posted two aces, with Margolies and Nedoma each recording one.

Ohio will continue Mid-American Conference play at Bowling Green on Saturday. First serve is set for 5 p.m.
