OXFORD, Ohio -- The Ohio volleyball team (8-10, 3-2 MAC) battled back from a 2-1 deficit but fell to Mid-American Conference East Division archrival Miami (12-5, 4-1 MAC), 3-2 (25-22, 21-25, 25-19, 18-25, 15-9) this evening at Millett Hall.
Junior outside hitter Lizzie Stephens (Dallas, Texas) led the Bobcats with 16 kills and achieved a double-double with 11 digs. She also added four total blocks (one solo, three assisted). Redshirt senior outside hitter Jaime Kosiorek (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) also achieved a double-double with 13 kills and 13 digs. Redshirt senior right side hitter Katie Nelson (Regina, Saskatchewan) hit .229 with 11 kills and also added four total blocks (two solo, two assisted). Sophomore middle blocker Tia Jimerson (Sugar Hill, Ga.) totaled nine kills and led the team with five assisted blocks. Sophomore setter Vera Giacomazzi (San Vendemiano, Italy) dished out a team-high 46 assists and compiled 10 digs to achieve a double-double. Sophomore defensive specialist/libero Macy Reihing (Lexington, Ky.) piled up a team-high 23 digs.
Miami was led by freshman outside hitter Gaby Harper, who hit .381 with a match-high 22 kills and achieved a double-double with 14 digs.
Ohio will look to bounce back on Saturday (Oct. 6) when it visits MAC East Division rival Bowling Green. The contest is set to get underway at 5 p.m., and it will be streamed live on ESPN+.
