HOW IT HAPPENED
⢠Oklahoma set the tone for its sweep in the opening set, winning by 13 points. The Sooners attacked at a .447 (19 kills-two errors-38 total attacks) pace while holding the Bobcats to a .184 (10 kills-three errors-38 total attacks) percentage.
⢠Ohio gave Oklahoma a battle in the second set. After the Sooners opened with 10-4 lead, the Bobcats put together a 10-5 stretch to make it a one-point set at 15-14. Two kills by Lake, kills by Kosiorek, Nelson and senior outside hitter/libero Mallory Salis (Oak Lawn, Ill.) and double blocks and Lake and freshman middle blocker/outside hitter Sara Januszewski (Oak Creek, Wis.) and Nelson and Burke sparked Ohio's run. An Ohio attack error and a kill by Spann gave Oklahoma a 17-14 lead and forced the Bobcats to burn a timeout. Kills by Salis and Kosiorek helped make it a two-point set at 19-17, but the Sooners closed out the set win and a 2-0 match lead with a 6-2 run highlighted by three kills by Hazelwood.
⢠It looked as though Oklahoma was going to breeze to a three-set win after the Sooners jumped out to a 20-10 lead in the third set. The Bobcats refused to go down without a fight, though, stringing together an 8-3 run that featured two kills by freshman outside hitter Lizzie Stephens (Frisco, Texas), kills by Nelson and Kosiorek and a double block by Burke and Januszewski. Unfortunately for Ohio, a kill by Spann and a double block by Hazelwood and freshman outside hitter Morgan Turner ended the sweep for the Sooners.

QUOTABLE
Third-year head coach Deane Webb on the defeat
"We just kind of got away from our identity. We've been an agressive serving team, and I just think we weren't tonight. They're a way too athletic team. They outmatched us physically and outmatched us in terms of experiece. We have to do something different to be able to overcome that. I don't know tonight that we did that. I think we just tried to play even, and you can't play even with a team that's more experienced or more athletic, or it's not going to go well, especially the first contact. I really wasn't pleased with how we served and passed tonight."
Senior libero Brooke Coleman on the loss
"Going into a big match like this, playing against a big team, we need to know that they're a team that can compete with us, and we can't be scared. From the beginning of this game, we were playing scared, and that's what got us."
