THE BASICS

Location: Convocation Center -- Athens, Ohio
The Short Story: Freshman guard Jordan Dartis (Newark, Ohio) hit a fall away three pointer with 24 seconds left to lift the Ohio men's basketball team (23-11) past UNCG (15-19), 72-67, in the 2016 College Basketball Invitational Quarterfinals on Monday (March 21) at the Convocation Center in Athens, Ohio.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Bobcats shot 44.8 percent (26-of-58) from the field while going 5-of-20 (25.0 percent) from behind the arc. Ohio held UNCG to 39.1 percent (25-of-64) from the field -- including 35.7 percent (10-of-28) from three-point range. The Bobcats edged the Spartans in the statistical battle with advantages in rebounds (42-30), second chance points (10-4) and points in the paint (42-28).
• Simmons went 6-of-12 from the field -- including 1-of-2 from beyond the arc -- while converting 6-of-6 attempts from the charity stripe. He also posted a game-high eight assists to bring his season total to 268 to break the Mid-American Conference record for assists in a single season. The previous mark of 263 was set by Ohio guard D.J. Cooper in 2010-11. He also recorded three rebounds and a steal in 38 minutes.
• Junior forward Antonio Campbell (Cincinnati, Ohio) recorded 17 points off of 7-of-15 shooting from the field while snatching a game-high 19 rebounds -- including 17 defensive rebounds. He also notched two blocks, a steal and an assist in 36 minutes.
• Freshman guard Jordan Dartis (Newark, Ohio) added 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting â€" including 2-of-3 from behind the arc. He also converted on 2-of-2 free throw attempts grabbing five rebounds in 33 minutes.
• Redshirt senior forward Treg Setty (Maysville, Ky.) recorded 12 points off of 4-of-9 shooting from the field â€" including 1-of-1 from three point land. He notched six rebounds, three assist and a steal in 35 minutes.
• The Spartans were led by a 17-point performance by junior guard Diante Baldwin. Baldwin shot 6-of-15 from the field and 3-for-7 from beyond the arc while grabbing five boards and a team-high three assists in 34 minutes.
• Sophomore forward Marvin Smith Jr. netted 16 points going 5-of-11 from the field. He also snatched a team-high seven rebounds while recording two steals and a block in 33 minutes.
• Redshirt junior center R.J. White tallied 11 points to go along with three rebounds, a steals and a block in 28 minutes for UNCG.
• After UNCG found the bottom of the net first, Simmons made sure Ohio answered right back as he took his man one-on-one on the left wing before a behind the back dribble freed up the path to the basket as he drove and finished with the right hand to tie the game at 2 all with18:41 left in the opening half.
• After showing his scoring ability, Simmons put his passing skills on full display dishing out assists on the next three Bobcat baskets including finding Setty in the right corner for a three to put them up 9-6 with 15:56 remaining in the first half.
• Less than three minutes later, Simmons drove the right baseline before finding Campbell right below the basket, who laid it up in to give Simmons his 264th assist of the season to break the single season MAC record. The layup knotted the game at 14-all with 13:17 to go in the first half.
• Ohio briefly took a 16-14 lead before a three by the Spartans out them back in front 17-16 with 12:19 left in the first half. UNCG continued to build on its lead as Ohio was unable to get the cap off the hoop until late in the first half.
• Trailing 31-19, Ohio began to work itself back into the game as a drive by Jordan Dartis from the right wing got the Bobcats going. On the next possession, Setty cleaned up a three point miss pumping once before absorbing the contract and finishing the layup. He would convert on the and-one opportunity to cut the deficit to 31-24 with 4:57 left in the opening half of play.
• Ohio continued to work its way back into the game from inside while also finding its way to the charity stripe. The Bobcats converted their last six free throws of the half while finding free cutters at the rim. The final Ohio possession of the half saw Simmons doing it himself as he drove off the right wing, stuck his foot in the ground and put a one-handed shot off the glass in in to cut the lead to 36-32 with 32 seconds remaining to halftime.
• UNCG had the final possession of the half and did not let it go to waste as it worked the clock down before Baldwin drove with his left to lay it in as time expired in the first half to give the Spartans a 38-32 halftime edge.
• The Bobcats came out firing to start the second half as Dartis drove his way to the rim scooping and scoring with his left. On the next Ohio possession, redshirt junior forward Kenny Kaminski (Medina, Ohio) was left open on the right wing, and he drilled a three to cut it to 40-37 with 18:35 to go in the game.
• Down by eight once again, the Bobcats looked to chip away at the Spartan lead down low as a drive from Simmons got them going. Two possessions later, Dartis absorbed the contact from two Spartans and as he was falling to the floor flipped the ball up and in to cut it to 47-43 with 13:44 left in the second half.
• The Spartans pushed their lead back to double digits at 62-47 with 7:45 to play in the as the Bobcats could not get a shot to fall.
• Ohio looked to their two All-MAC performers in Simmons and Campbell on the next three possessions as three straight layups cut the UNCG lead to 62-53 with 6:10 remaining in the second half.
• Simmons and Campbell proved to be a tough duo for the Spartans to stop as they scored on six of seven possessions to cut it to 64-62 with 3:18 to go in the game. Simmons brought the entire Convo crowd to its feet when he pulled up on the left wing and netted a long three right in from of the CBI logo. The shot capped a 15-2 run.
• The Bobcats grabbed their first lead since the 12:52 mark in the first half when Simmons found Dartis, who nailed a straight away three with 2:41 remaining in the game. UNCG answered back on the very next possession as a corner three put them up 67-65 with 2:15 to go.
• The Spartans put Campbell at the line with 1:16 left in the game with a chance to tie the game. He knocked down both to knot the game up at 67-all.
• After a UNCG missed layup at the other end, Ohio had the ball and a chance to take the lead with under a minute to play. With the shot clock ticking down, the ball fell into the hands of Dartis, who fought off the double team on the right wing, faded away and drilled a go-ahead three to give the Bobcats a 70-67 lead with 24 seconds on the clock.
• A UNCG layup attempt fell way short on the other end as Campbell scooped up the rebound and handed it off to Simmons, who got fouled with 14 seconds to play. Simmons knocked down both from the line to seal a 72-67 come from behind victory.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
• The 2015-16 Ohio squad matched the 1998-99 team for the biggest turnaround in program history. The Bobcats have improved by 13 wins over posting just 10 victories in 2014-15. After the 1997-98 squad went 5-21, the '98-99 team finished 18-10.
• The 2015-16 Bobcats have matched the 1984-85, '85-86 and 2009-10 teams for the most wins in a single season in program history.

• Ohio, making its 22nd postseason appearance in program history, is now 17-22 (.410) all-time in national postseason play. The Bobcats are 3-1 (.750) all-time in CBI play. Ohio is now 6-2 (.750) all-time in national postseason games played at the Convo.
• Ohio is 6-5 (.545) all-time against current members of the Southern Conference -- including 1-2 (.333) in national postseason play.
• Ohio is now 16-2 (.889) at home in 2015-16.
• Simmons has now logged double-digit points in each of the last nine games and 25 times this season and has led the team in scoring 11 times. He finished with at least five assists in a game for the 31st time this year and led the team in assists for the 32nd time. 
• Campbell finished in double figures in scoring for the fifth game in a row, team-high 289h time this year and 49th time in his career. He has notched double-digit rebounds a team-high 19 times this year and 30 times in his career. He has led the team in rebounding a team-high 28 times. He has notched a team-high 17 double-doubles this season and 26 times in his career. He has now scored 1,020 points in his career.
• Dartis finished in double figures in scoring for the fourth game in a row and 15th time this season.
• Setty notched his eighth-straight double-digit scoring effort, 22nd of the year and 24th of his career.

UP NEXT
The Bobcats advance to the semifinals of the CBI where they will face Morehead State (21-12) on Wednesday (March 23) at 7 p.m. ET at the Convocation Center. Morehead State topped Duquesne, 82-72, on Monday behind a 17-point performance from redshirt senior guard Brent Arrington.
