HUNTINGTON, W. Va. â€" The Ohio swimming and diving team sits in first place with 157 points after day one of the Marshall Invitational. Currently behind the Bobcats is Marshall with 150 points and Toledo with 103 points after the first 10 events.
In the first event of the day, the Bobcats’ ‘A’ team finished in first place with a final time of 1:46.42.
In the 1650-yard freestyle, Ana Henderson finished in third place, touching in 17:22.38. In the next event, the 200-yard freestyle, Katie Lemen placed third, finishing the race in 1:53.65. Stephanie Gyurke finished in seventh place, touching in at 1:56.81, followed by Bianca Hauzer in eighth place in 1:57.02.
In the next event, the 100-yard backstroke, Addison Ferguson finished in first place, touching in at 55.62. Caroline Raley finished in fourth place, finishing the race in 58.60 and Mackenzie Hornstra placed fifth with a final time of 59.39.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, Kelse Johnson finished in second place, touching in at 1:06.53 and Ariel Hodges finished in third place, finishing the race in 1:07.05.
In the next event, the 200-yard butterfly, the Bobcats swept the podium with Emily Davis finished in first place with a final time of 2:03.28. Maddie Wyke placed second with a final time of 2:03.88 and Laura Dawson finished in third place, touching in at 2:04.00.
In the 50-yard freestyle, Corrin Van Lanen finished in second place with a final time of 23.53. Lexie White finished the race in 24.71 and a fourth-place finish and Hornstra finished in sixth place, touching in at 25.06.
In the next event, the 200-yard IM, Johnson finished in first place, touching in at 2:06.27 and Gyurke finished third, with a final time of 2:08.36.
In the final event of the night, the 800-yard freestyle relay, the Bobcat ‘A’ team of Dawson, Lemen, Hornstra and Kimberly Zehnder finished in first place with a final time of 7:36.04.
The Bobcats return to action tomorrow (Feb. 6) for the final day of the Marshall Invite.
