Short Story: The Ohio volleyball team (15-13, 11-5 MAC) won the first two sets but could not close out the 2016 regular season with a victory, falling to Mid-American Conference West Division foe Central Michigan (11-17, 5-11 MAC), 3-2 (19-25, 23-25, 25-23, 25-21, 19-17), on Saturday (Nov. 12) at McGuirk Arena in Mount Pleasant, Mich.
THE BASICS
⢠The Bobcats hit .225 (64 kills-23 errors-182 total attacks) while holding the Chippewas to a .195 (61 kills-27 errors-174 total attacks) hitting percentage. Ohio led the match in assists (59-57) but Central Michigan held the statistical advantage in service aces (11-5), total team blocks (11.0-10.0) and digs (81-76).
⢠Senior outside hitter/libero Mallory Salis (Oak Lawn, Ill.) produced a match-high 24 kills for Ohio. She also posted two total blocks (one solo, one assisted) and eight digs.
⢠Junior outside hitter Jaime Kosiorek (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) tallied 16 kills, a team-high three service aces, three assisted blocks and seven digs for the Bobcats.
⢠Redshirt junior middle blocker Ali Lake (Liberty Township, Ohio) logged 12 kills, three total blocks (one solo, two assisted), an assist and four digs for Ohio.
⢠Sophomore outside hitter Simone Miller (Kalamzoo, Mich.) recorded five kills and a team-high five assisted blocks for the Bobcats. She also had an assist and a dig.
⢠Redshirt sophomore middle blocker Katie Nelson (Regina, Saskatchewan) notched five kills, three total blocks (one solo, two assisted) and two digs for Ohio.
⢠Sophomore setter/outside hitter Stephanie Olman (Maumee, Ohio) achieved a double-double for the Bobcats with a match-high 55 assists to go along with 10 digs. She also had a kill and an assisted block.
⢠Sophomore libero Erica Walker (Wheaton, Ill.) compiled a match-high 26 digs for Ohio in addition to totaling a kill and a service ace.
⢠Senior libero Brooke Coleman (Plano, Texas) tallied 12 digs, a service ace and two assists for the Bobcats.
⢠Junior outside hitter Jordan Bueter led Central Michigan with 20 kills and achieved a double-double with 14 digs. She also delivered a match-high six service aces in addition to tallying an assisted block and two assists.
⢠Sophomore outside hitter Laura Wilson hit .303 (15 kills-five errors-33 total attacks) for the Chippewas and also contributed four assisted blocks and two digs.
⢠Junior middle blocker Paige Carey recorded a .348 (11 kills-three errors-23 total attacks) hitting percentage and also had four assisted blocks, an assist and three digs for Central Michigan.
⢠Freshman middle blocker Jayla Wesley led the match with six assisted blocks and also chipped in three kills, three assists and a dig for the Chippewas.
⢠Senior setter Kathia Sanchez led Central Michigan with 28 assists and posted a double-double with 14 digs. She also added seven kills, three total blocks (one solo, two assisted) and two service aces.
⢠Sophomore setter Kelli Combs also achieved a double-double for the Chippewas with 18 assists and 15 digs.
⢠Freshman defensive specialist Megan Kern led Central Michigan with 24 digs. She also had two service aces and five assists.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
⢠Ohio closed out the 2016 regular season with 12 victories in its final 17 matches.
⢠The Bobcats have won at least 11 conference matches in each of the last six seasons.
⢠Salis has now posted double-digit kills 19 times this year and 34 times in her career. She has finished with at least 22 kills in six matches this season.
⢠Kosiorek has now finished with double-digit kills 16 times this year and 49 times in her career. She has now posted three or more service aces four times this season and on 13 occasions in her career.
⢠Lake has now logged double-digit kills 15 times this year and 18 times in her career.
⢠Miller has now finished with at least five total blocks in five of the last nine matches -- including three in a row.
⢠Olman has dished out 40 or more assists 13 times this year -- including at least 50 on six occasions -- and has achieved six double-doubles.
⢠Walker has now tallied double-digit digs 16 times this year -- including each of the last 14 matches -- and 26 times in her career.

UP NEXT
The Bobcats have clinched the No. 3 seed and a first-round bye in the 2016 MAC Championship, which will be held next weekend (Nov. 17-20) at Victor E. Court in DeKalb, Ill. Ohio will play either No. 6-seeded Toledo (15-13, 8-8 MAC) or No. 7-seeded Kent State (15-14, 8-8 MAC) in a second-round match next Friday (Nov. 18) at 8:30 p.m. ET. The Rockets and the Golden Flashes will square off on Thursday (Nov. 17) at 8:30 p.m. ET.
The Rockets beat the Bobcats, 3-1 (25-23, 25-20, 22-25, 25-14) on Oct. 14, in Toledo, Ohio in the lone meeting this season between the two programs. Ohio swept the regular season series from Kent State, logging a 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-22, 25-16) win over the Golden Flashes on Oct. 6 at the Convocation Center in Athens, Ohio, then tallying another 3-1 (26-24, 25-14, 20-25, 29-27) win on Thursday (Nov. 10).
