HOW IT HAPPENED
• The first set proved to be extremely competitive. Two kills by Walker, a kill by freshman setter/outside hitter Stephanie Olman (Maumee, Ohio), another by senior middle blocker Karin Bull (Bloomington, Minn.) and a service ace by Salis helped Ohio establish an early 8-7 edge. The Bobcats’ lead swelled to 13-10 thanks to a kills by Nelson and Shelby Walker and a service ace by freshman libero Erica Walker (Wheaton, Ill.). The Boilermakers did not allow Ohio to add more to its cushion, however, cutting the Green & White’s edge down to one on five occasions. Ohio made it a three-point set again at 20-17 thanks in large part to kills by Gilleland and Salis. Purdue flipped the script, however, by going on a 5-0 run that featured two kills by Drews and a double block by Adelaja and Drews to five the Boilermakers a 22-20 lead. Ohio squared things up at 22-all on a service ace by Ashy, forcing Purdue to burn a timeout. The squads traded the next four points to force a 24-all tie, but the Boilermakers closed out the set win with kills by Drews and Stahl.
• Purdue raced out to a 10-4 lead thanks in large part to three straight kills by Stahl, but Ohio shaved it down to 12-9 with a double block by Kosiorek and Nelson, a kill by Salis and three more attack errors by Boilermakers. Purdue let Oho get no closer, though, taking a 2-0 lead by finishing the set off on a 13-5 run.
• Unfortunately for the Bobcats, the third set had a similar feel to the second. Purdue jumped ahead to an 18-5 lead and never trailed by less than nine the rest of the way.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
• Shelby Walker and Nelson were named to the 2015 All-Mortar Board Premier Team. Walker finished the weekend with 19 kills (2.11 per set), seven total blocks (one solo, six assisted; 0.78 per set) and two digs while Nelson tallied 20 kills (2.22 per set), eight total blocks (team-high three solo, five assisted; 0.89 per set) and two assists (0.22 per set).
