THE BASICS
- The Ohio volleyball team (2-0) swept Virginia Commonwealth (0-2), 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-9), on Saturday (Aug. 29) at the Mortar Board Premier hosted by Purdue.
- Senior middle blocker Shelby Walker (Bradenton, Fla.), sophomore outside hitter Jaime Kosiorek (Chagrin Falls, Ohio), and redshirt freshman Katie Nelson (Regina, Saskatchewan) led Ohio with eight kills. Nelson hit a match-high .667 clip.
- Senior middle blocker and 2015 Preseason All-Mid-American Conference East Division Team member Karin Bull (Bloomington, Minn.) registered a match-high six total blocks, followed by Walker with four.
- In only her second college match, freshman libero Erica Walker (Wheaton, Ill.) aced VCU five times. As a team Ohio had 11 aces.
- Senior libero and 2014 Preseason All-MAC East Division Team selection Meredith Ashy (Louisville, Ky.) piled up a match-high nine digs.
- Senior setter and 2015 Preseason All-MAC East Team member Abby Gilleland (Bull Valley, Ill.) had a match high 27 assists, adding six digs and three service aces.
- VCU was led by senior outside hitter Kalah Jones with nine kills. Sophomore Indigo Thompson racked up a team-high 16 assists. Sophomore libero Rebekah Strange totaled seven digs for the Rams.
- Ohio held VCU to just a .013 attack percentage.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ohio had command of the match early. A kill from Shelby Walker and an attack error from VCU gave Ohio an 8-3 lead. Later in the set, Ohio got on a 5-0 run thanks to a kill by Nelson and VCU mistakes. The Bobcats ended the set 25-17 on Kosiorek's kill down the sideline.
- Three kills to start the second set helped VCU reach an early 5-0 lead. Ohio's errors and VCU's offensive aggression led to an 11-3 VCU lead and a Bobcat timeout. The Green and White chipped away at the Rams' lead, and came out of the timeout on a 4-1 run. After a VCU timeout, Ohio tied the set at 15 off back-to-back attack errors by the Rams, then rode a 10-6 run to take the second set, 25-23.
- The third set saw Ohio dominate the Rams, 25-9. VCU took a timeout after three service aces from Erica Walker and a kill by Gilleland that put Ohio up, 13-5. Ohio's offense rolled from there, reeling off a 12-4 run to complete the emotional sweep. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Today marked Ohio's fourth victory over VCU in program history. The Bobcats are now 4-1 all-time against the Rams.
