HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ohio built up an early 10-point lead in the first set thanks to three kills from Kosiorek and Gilleland. Austin Peay cut Ohio’s lead to 15-8 after two kills and an attack error by the Bobcats. With a 20-15 Ohio lead, kills from Kosiorek, Gilleland and senior middle blocker Shelby Walker (Bradenton, Fla.) propelled Ohio to win the first set, 25-17.
- The Bobcats jumped to an 8-3 lead in the second set after three kills from Kosiorek and two from Nelson. Austin Peay took their first lead since the first set after rallying an 8-2 run to take an 11-10 lead. Governor attack errors and kills from Kosiorek and Gilleland helped Ohio retake the lead and forced Austin Peay to take a timeout. The Green & White ended the set on a 6-1 run to claim a 25-16 win.
- Going point for point and tied at 16 in the third set, Ohio had a key kill and block from Walker to take a 19-16 lead which lead to a Governors timeout. Attack errors by the 'Cats gave Austin Peay the chance to break a 19-19 tie, but a kill from Kosiorek and a double block by Kosiorek and senior middleblocker Karin Bull (Bloomington, Minn.) gave Ohio a cushion to push for the sweep. Sitting on match point with a 24-23 lead, second-year head coach Deane Webb called for a timeout. Kosiorek earned the final kill of the contest, putting away Austin Peay in the third set 25-23.
