THE BASICS
The Ohio baseball team (28-18, 13-9 MAC) blanked Mid-American Conference West Division foe Eastern Michigan (18-30,8-14 MAC), 5-0, on Friday (May 8) at Oestrike Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior right-handed starting pitcher Jake Miller (Westerville, Ohio) tossed six scoreless frames, striking out three and earning the mound victory to improve to 3-3 on the season. He scattered six hits and two walks.
- Senior right-handed relief pitcher Logan Cozart (New Philadelphia, Ohio) earned his school-record 10th save of the year, fanning two over three innings of work out of the bullpen.
- Sophomore Mitch Longo (Mayfield, Ohio) went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, two runs scored and a walk.
- Redshirt sophomore Nate Squires (Plain City, Ohio) finished 2-for-3.
- Senior right-handed starting pitcher Charlie Land suffered the loss on the mound for Eastern Michigan, falling to 3-7 on the year. He fanned one over seven innings while surrendering four runs -- three of them earned -- on seven hits and two walks.
- Sophomore John Montgomery led the Eagles at the plate, going 2-for-4.
- Redshirt senior Garrett Black (Lima, Ohio) coaxed a one-out walk in the top of the first inning to set the table for Longo's two-run shot to right.
- The Bobcats made it a 3-0 contest in the top of the second when sophomore Ty Black (Waynesville, Ohio) was hit by a pitch and later scored on a two-out wild pitch.
- Ohio's advantage swelled 4-0 in the sixth when senior Tyler Wells (Lexington, Ky.) hit a one-out double down the left field line and scored on a single to left center by junior John Adryan (Delran, N.J.).
- The 'Cats tacked on their final run in the eighth as Longo drew a leadoff walk and later scored on a single to center by Ty Black.
