@OhioBobcatSB Falls to WMU on Day Two of MAC Tournament

AKRON, Ohio -- The Ohio softball team fell to Western Michigan 10-2 in five innings on the second day of the Mid-American Conference Tournament at Firestone Stadium. The loss eliminated the Bobcats from the tournament.

Western Michigan (22-25) jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, highlighted by Erin Binkowski's two-run homerun.

The Bobcats (15-32) responded in the top of the second inning. Casie Hutchinson (Lebanon, Ohio) led off with a base hit to right field and advanced to second when Dakota Pyles (Galloway, Ohio) grounded out. She then advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a groundout by Madison Claytor (Alpharetta, Ga.), making the score 4-1.

The Broncos added two on in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 6-1 lead.

Ohio got a run in the top of the fifth inning when Claytor led the inning off on a double and would later score on a ground out by Sloan Walker (Cyprus, Texas) to cut the WMU lead to 6-2.

The Broncos ended the game in the bottom of the firth inning when Marlee Wilson hit a grand slam, making the final score 10-2.

At the plate, Ohio had three hits. Timmie Rappe (Wheaton, Ill.) and Hutchinson each had a base hit while Claytor roped a double to the rightfield wall and added a run scored and an RBI. Raven King (Alpine, Utah) reached base on a walk and Amanda Dalton (Salem, Va.) reached twice on fielding errors. Walker had an RBI and Hutchinson also had a run scored.

In the circle, Lauren McClary (Pasadena, Texas) got the start, pitching two-thirds of an inning, allowing four runs on three hits. Sydney Compston (Wellston, Ohio) entered the game in the first inning and pitched three and a third innings, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out two. Leanna Bachman (Carroll, Ohio) entered the game in the bottom of the fifth inning and tossed two-thirds of an inning, allowing four runs on three hits.
