THE BASICS
The Ohio baseball team (10-5) split a Saturday (March 14) doubleheader with Siena (2-11) at Veterans Administration Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe, Ohio, coming away with a 4-3 win in game of the twin bill but dropping a 7-3 decision in game two.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bobcats rallied from a two-run deficit after four innings of play, plating a run in the home half of the fifth and three more in the sixth.
- Senior Tyler Wells (Lexington, Ky.) posted his seventh multi-hit game of the 2015 season, going 2-for-3 and driving in the go-ahead run for Ohio in the sixth.
- Junior right-handed starting pitcher Connor Sitz (Westerville, Ohio) improved to 4-1 on the season, fanning six over six frames while allowing two earned runs on three hits and two walks.
- Senior right-handed reliever Logan Cozart (New Philadelphia, Ohio) picked up his third save of the season, striking out three in three innings of work. He allowed an earned run on five hits and a walk.
- Junior Alex Tuccio led the Saints at the plate with a 2-for-4 effort that included a home run.
- Junior right-handed starting pitcher Bryan Goossens was saddled with the pitching loss for Siena, falling to 0-4. He stuck out six in seven innings but gave up four runs -- three of them earned -- on six hits and a walk.
- The Saints grabbed a 2-0 lead in the fourth when sophomore Dan Swain hit a one-out single to left center, setting the table for a two-run home run to right center one out later by senior Brian Fay.
- Ohio chipped away at Siena's lead in the fifth as reigning Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week Ty Black (Waynesville, Ohio) sent a one-out triple to right center and then tagged up and scored on a sacrifice fly to left by junior John Adryan.
- The Bobcats seized control of the contest with a three-run sixth. Junior Manny De Jesus (Caguas, P.R.) got things rolling with a base hit to center, then moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by redshirt senior Garrett Black (Lima, Ohio). Sophomore Mitch Longo (Mayfield, Ohio) tied the game at two-all with a single, scoring De Jesus. Senior Jake Madsen (Cincinnati, Ohio) followed by drawing a walk, and he and Longo each advanced 90 feet by way of a wild pitch. Wells legged out an infield single to drive in Longo and put the Bobcats in front, and Madsen scored on an error on the play to extend Ohio's lead to 4-2.
- Siena got a run back in the ninth on a one-out solo homer to left by Tuccio. Cozart worked around a single by Swain by striking out junior Brett Connors and getting freshman Jordan Bishop to ground out to short to end the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Longo went 2-for-4 with two RBI to lead Ohio at the plate.
- Sophomore right-handed starting pitcher Jake Rudnicki was saddled with the pitching defeat for Ohio, falling to 1-1 on the season. He surrendered five runs -- four of them earned - on five hits and a walk in two-thirds of an inning.
- Freshman southpaw Mason McWilliams (Belevue, Ohio) worked six and a third of an inning of relief, fanning six. He gave up two earned runs on four hits.
- Sophomore righty Corey Wells (Lexington, Ky.) and freshman right-hander Logan Jacik (Omaha, Neb.) each threw a scoreless inning of relief for the Bobcats.
- Freshman Joe Drpich put together a big afternoon at the plate for the Saints, going 3-for-4 with two home runs -- including a grand slam.
- Swain tallied a double and a single to go along with a walk and a run scored while Bishop collected two base hits and scored a run.
- Senior right-handed starting pitcher Ed Lewicki picked up the pitching win for the Saints, improving to 1-1. He struck out two in six innings while giving up three runs -- two of them earned -- on four hits and a walk.
- Senior righty Matt Quintana struck out three and allowed a hit in three innings of relief for the Saints.
- Drpich broke the contest open early with a one-out grand slam to right in the top of the first. Freshman Fred Smart extended Siena's lead to 5-0 with a solo blast to left to make it back-to-back homers for the Saints.
- The Bobcats got a run back in the home half of the first as De Jesus smacked a leadoff double to right center and scored one out later courtesy of a single by Longo.
- Drpich gave the Saints a 6-1 lead in the top of the third when he smashed his second round tripper of the contest -- this one a solo shot to right.
- Siena made it a 7-1 ballgame in the sixth as junior Tyler Martis hit a two-out single to center and scored by way of a double down the left field line by Swain.
- Ohio got two runs back in the bottom of the sixth, as redshirt senior Kyle Dean (Athens, Ohio) cracked a leadoff single up the middle and De Jesus followed by reaching on a Siena error. Both moved into scoring position on a wild pitch. Dean scored by way of a single to right by Longo, and De Jesus scampered home on an RBI fielder's choice that put Madsen on.

- Longo is on a season-high nine-game hitting streak. He's reached base safely in 12 straight games.
