HOW IT HAPPENED
• Ohio cruised to a 10-point win in the opening set. The Bobcats used kills by senior middle blocker Karin Bull (Bloomington, Minn.), Kosiorek, Gilleland, Walker, Salis and redshirt sophomore middle blocker Ali Lake (Liberty Township, Ohio) and service aces by Salis and Ashy to build up a quick 11-5 lead. Ohio never led by less than six the rest of the set. Salis finished the first set with five kills while Gilleland and Bull each added three.
• The Bobcats and the Bulls traded points in the early going of the second set, building up to a seven-all tie. Ohio took command from there, though, rattling off a 9-5 run to grab a 16-12 lead and force the Bulls to call a timeout. Ohio's lead swelled to 21-12 thanks to two more kills by Kosiorek and kills by Walker and Salis. The Bulls scored two of the next three points, but the Bobcats closed out the second set and a 2-0 match lead with a kill by Lake and back-to-back Buffalo attack errors. Kosiorek dominated the second frame with seven kills.
• The third set saw Ohio race ahead to a 14-4 lead with kills by Kosiorek, Walker, Salis and Gilleland, two service aces by Salis and service aces by Gilleland and redshirt junior setter/defensive specialist Aubree Hord (Loveland, Ohio). Buffalo answered with a 10-4 run that shaved Ohio's lead down to 18-14 and forced the Bobcats to burn a timeout. That's as close as the Bulls got, though, as Ohio closed out the match with a 7-1 run powered by two kills by Salis and kills by Lake and redshirt freshman middle blocker Katie Nelson (Regina, Saskatchewan).

QUOTABLE
"Good win overall. We really focused on quite a few things offensively the last couple weeks to speed up our offense quite a bit and make some changes to our lineup. I was pleased with how it went tonight. First set, it was all offense, both sides. We didn't defend very well. Second set was our best set of the night. We had that great balance of high-level offense but still defended at a good level. Third set, I thought we lost some focus. Had some unforced attack errors we didn't need to have but defended at a great level. It was a good step forward for us. This was really what we needed to see from some of the changes that we made. They all played at a high level. Shelby went back in the middle and hit for a huge number. Mal scored quite a bit on the outside. Jaime may have benefited the most of anybody on our team with running our offense a little faster, and she obviously hit for a big number today." - Second-Year Head Coach Deane Webb
