HOW IT HAPPENED
• The first set was hotly contested, with the two squads trading points to reach a 16-all tie. A 4-2 run by Akron gaves the Zips a 20-18 advantage, but two kills by Walker, a kill by Kosiorek and a solo block by Gilleland gave the Bobcats four straight points and a 22-20 lead. Akron managed to cut Ohio's lead back down to one twice at 22-21 and 23-22, but an attack error by the Zips and a kill by Kosiorek allowed the Bobcats to prevail.
• Ohio broke a seven-all stalemate in the second set by rattling off three straight points courtesy of a kill by Lake, a double block by Lake and Bull and a service ace by Ashy. The Bobcats never looked back, never leading by less than two points the rest of the set.
• The third set started much like the first set, with the two teams exchanging points to reach a 14-all tie. The Bobcats quickly changed the tone, though, scoring 10 straight points to put the match out of reach. The run was highlighted by two kills by Kosiorek and Bull and a service ace by freshman libero Erica Walker (Wheaton, Ill.).

QUOTABLE
"Tonight we did a good job attacking and playing floor defense. We lacked focus from the service line, and we will look to improve that tomorrow. Good to get another sweep on the road." - Second-year head coach Deane Webb
