HOW IT HAPPENED
• Ohio rolled to a win in the opening set, hitting .324 (14 kills-two errors-37 total attacks). The Bobcats raced ahead to a 17-9 lead thanks in large part to six kills by Walker and two by Lake. The Falcons countered with a 7-5 stretch that cut the Bobcats' lead down to 22-16. Ohio scored three of the next five points, though, to take a 1-0 match lead. Kills by Kosiorek, Walker and redshirt freshman middle blocker Katie Nelson (Regina, Saskatchewan) closed out the first-set win for the Bobcats.
• The Bobcats and the Falcons went back and forth in the early portion of the second set. Kills by Slimko and freshman middle Madeline Brandewie gave Bowling Green an 11-9 lead, but kills by Bull and Gilleland evened the score. Ohio then rattled off an 11-6 run to take a 22-17 lead, using three kills by Bull, a double block by Kosiorek and Bull and kills by Gilleland, Kosiorek, Nelson and Lake. Back-to-back kills by Slimko and a double block by Scholten and Maloney shaved Ohio's lead down to 22-20, but the Bobcats closed out the set victory and took a 2-0 match lead with a solo block by Bull and a service ace by Kosiorek.
• The third set began much like the second set as the two squads traded points to build to a 14-all tie. Two kills apiece from Nelson, Bull and Kosiorek, a solo block by Walker and a double block by Nelson and Lake helped the Bobcats stay even with the Falcons. Ohio broke the set open with a 9-3 run that featured three kills by Walker, kills by Bull, Lake and Kosiorek. Bowling Green scored three of the next four points to cut Ohio's lead to 24-20, but the Bobcats ended the match and secured the win with a kill by freshman setter/outside hitter Stephanie Olman.
