ESTERO, Fla. -- The Ohio men's golf team finished in eighth place at the Homewood/Hilton Garden Airport & FGCU Classic at Old Corkscrew Golf Club.
The Green & White followed rounds of 311 (+23) and 304 (+16) on Monday (Oct. 26) with a 308 (+20) on Tuesday (Oct. 27) to finish with a 54-hole score of 923 (+59).
No. 22-ranked Florida fired rounds of 286 (-2), 280 (-8) and 285 (-3) to win the event as the only team under-par at -13 (851).
Florida sophomore Alejandro Tosti and Central Florida sophomore Manuel Elvira tied for first place in the individual competition with 211s (-5).
Junior Peyton White (Huntersville, N.C) led the Bobcats with rounds of 73 (+1), 69 (-3) and 83 (+11) to finish in 18th place with a score of 225 (+9). He spread out eight birdies over the course of the tournament and played the par 5s at even par.
Freshman Ben Sattler (Liberty Township, Ohio) followed up rounds of 76 (+4) and 82 (+10) on Monday to post a 77 (+5) Tuesday morning and finish in a tie for 41st place at 235 (+19). He birdied three of the four par 5s in round three and accumulated seven birdies throughout the 54 holes.
Junior Ty Herriott (Brandywine, Md.) finished in 47th place at 236 (+20) after rounds of 83 (+11), 76 (+4) and 77 (+5). He played the back nine of Old Corkscrew just three shots over par in the last two rounds.
Sophomore Grant Engel (Pittsburgh, Pa.) finished in 50th place at 239 (+23) after carding rounds of 85 (+13), 77 (+5) and 77 (+5). He played holes 9 and 11 each at two under par in the final two rounds.
Senior Michael Engelman (Grand Blanc, Mich.) finished the tournament tied for 58th at 243 (+27). He carded rounds of 79 (+7), 87 (+15) and 77 (+5).
The Homewood/Hilton Garden Airport & FGCU Classic concludes Ohio's fall slate. The Bobcats will begin their 2016 spring schedule Feb. 8-9 with Mid-American Match Play at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club in Dade City, Fla.
