RICHMOND, Ky. â€" The Ohio University women’s golf team fired a 312 (+24) in final-round play at the Arlington Golf Club on Saturday (April 5) to propel them to a fifth-place finish in the Colonel Classic after netting a 36-hole combined-team total of 638 (+62).
Tournament-host Eastern Kentucky took home top honors with a two-round score of 616 (+40). Sofie Levin of Eastern Kentucky captured the individual crown after carding a 36-hole total of 152 (+8).
Senior Kara Brinkmann (Middletown, Ohio) fired a 79 (+7) in round two to conclude play with a 159 (+15) 36-hole score. Freshman Hailey Hrynewich (Muskegon, Mich.) also finished play with a 159 (+15) mark after carding an 80 (+8) in round two. The senior-freshman duo tied for 18th.
Senior Kristen Helmsdoerfer (Westerville, Ohio) carded a 79 (+7) to push her into a tie for 28th with a 161 (+17) 36-hole total.
Sophomore Angela Codian (Massillon, Ohio) cut seven strokes off her first round score tallying a 78 (+6) mark to arrive at a 163 (+19) two-round score, tying for 37th.
Junior Julie Lechner (Powell, Ohio) compiled her best 18-hole score (76; +4) of the spring to grab a share of 43rd with a 164 (+20).
Freshman Jessica McRae (Medina, Ohio) rounded out play in individual competition with an 88 (+16) to arrive at a 180 (+36) 36-hole mark slotting her in 71st.
Ohio will next take the greens in the 2014 Dolores Black Falcon Invitational in Bowling Green, Ohio, held April 12-13.
