THE BASICS
• The Ohio volleyball team (20-4, 13-0 MAC) posted its 14th straight win and remained unbeaten in Mid-American Conference play with a 3-1 (25-18, 21-25, 25-12, 25-14) triumph over East Division rival Akron (8-20, 2-11 MAC) on Friday (Nov. 7) at James A. Rhodes Arena.
• The Bobcats have won 19 of their last 20 matches and have opened league play with 13 straight wins for the first time since going a perfect 16-0 in 2006.
• Senior outside hitter Kelly Lamberti (Cary, Ill.) tallied her seventh double-double in the last nine matches, posting a match-high 19 kills to go along with a team-high three service aces in addition to a solo block, 10 digs and two assists. The 2014 Preseason All-MAC East Division pick has totaled double-digit kills in 22 of 24 matches in 2014 -- including nine straight.
• Freshman outside hitter Jaime Kosiorek (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) compiled 12 kills to go along with a service ace, an assisted block and four digs. The rookie has posted double-digit kills 12 times in 2014.
• Junior setter Abby Gilleland (Bull Valley, Ill.) distributed a match-high 43 assists to go along with eight kills, a solo block and 13 digs. The 2014 Preseason All-MAC East Division honoree has tallied 40 or more assists on 11 occasions this year and has recorded 10 double-doubles.

• Junior libero Meredith Ashy (Louisville, Ky.) led the match with 17 digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Ohio jumped out to a 15-8 lead in the first set thanks in large part to five kills by Lamberti and two more by Gilleland. The Zips trimmed the Bobcat lead down to five at 17-12, but Ohio countered with a 7-2 run that featured two kills apiece by Lamberti and Gilleland, giving the `Cats set point at 24-14. Akron rattled off four straight points to shave Ohio's advantage down to six, but a kill by Kosiorek nailed down a 1-0 match lead for the Bobcats.
• The Zips edged the Bobcats by four in a back-and-forth second set that featured 14 ties, tying the match at one-all.
• Ohio responded out of the break by cruising to a 13-point victory in the third set. Four kills by Lamberti, three apiece by Gilleland and Kosiorek helped set the tone for the lopsided set victory that put Ohio ahead, 2-1. The Bobcats posted a .516 attacking percentage while holding Akron to a .071 clip.
• The Bobcats closed out the win with an 11-point triumph in the fourth set. Four more kills and two service aces by Lamberti, three more by Kosiorek and two by Bull helped Ohio seal the victory.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
• Ohio swept the season series from the Zips and has taken eight straight from Akron.

QUOTABLE
"The last two sets we played at a high level, hit at a high percentage, defended pretty well. That's what we need to take away. We're leaving here playing good volleyball." - First-year head coach Deane Webb
