ATHENS, Ohio â€" The Ohio University women’s soccer team (5-2-2; 1-0-0 MAC) scored three second-half goals to defeat the Bowling Green State University Falcons (0-7-0; 0-1-0 MAC) 3-1 Friday afternoon at Chessa Field.

With the win, Ohio extended its unbeaten streak to six games. The Bobcats last defeat occurred on Aug. 30 against DePaul.

Redshirt freshman midfielder Carly Manso (Vernon Hills, Ill.) led the way offensively for the Bobcats as she tallied a pair of assists and added her second goal of the year. Senior Mattie Liston (Lakewood, Ohio) tallied a pair of saves and improved to 5-2-2 in goal.

The Bobcats fell behind early as BGSU’s Kaitlyn Tobin found the back of the net off of a rebound to give the Falcons a 1-0 at the 8:39 mark of the first half. It marked the first goal allowed by Ohio in almost 290 minutes of action.

The Falcons would then go on to hold the Bobcats scoreless for the remainder of the half and took a 1-0 lead at the break.

Ohio had several first half scoring chances as it outshot the Falcons 8-3 in the first 45 minutes. The second half action belonged entirely to the Bobcats as they outshot Bowling Green 13-2. Three of its shots on goal found the back of the net in the frame.

Sophomore defender Holly Harris (Batavia, Ohio) got the scoring going for the Green & White as she scored from the middle of the 18-yard box to even the count at one apiece (59:08). Harris’ goal was her second of the year. Redshirt freshman midfielder Carly Manso (Vernon Hills, Ill.) found Harris for the assist.

Manso picked up her second assist of the match at the 83rd minute of the match as she found freshman forward Allison Cislo (Crownsville, Md.) inside the 18-yard box. Cislo then drove the ball into the net to give the Bobcats a 2-1 lead.

Ohio then added an insurance goal at the 85 minute mark thanks to a penalty kick by Manso, which helped secure the win for the Bobcats.

Ohio won its MAC opener for the third-straight season.

The Bobcats return to the field on Sunday as they welcome Central Michigan. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Chessa Field. Those in attendance will be eligible for a free soccer clinic courtesy of the Ohio University women’s soccer program.
