MAC Championships Day Three

NASHPORT, Ohio â€" The Ohio University women’s golf team finished competition at the 2013 Mid-American Conference Championships on Sunday. The Bobcats shot a team score of 337 on the final day of competition, ending in ninth place with a three-round score of 1,007.
Ohio didn’t end the tournament without recognition, however: Sarah Tranelli (Penfield, N.Y.) was named the league’s Sportswoman of the Year following a vote from her peers and Angela Codian (Massillon, Ohio) earned Second Team All-MAC honors.
Kent State earned the top spot at the tournament, claiming its 15th consecutive title at the MAC Championships. The Golden Flashes shot a 308 on the final day to end the tournament with a 909. KSU also claimed the individual champion at the tournament, as Jennifer Ha finished ahead of the pack with her final score of 222 over the course of the three rounds.
On a rainy day which harassed the golfers with both wind and cold temperatures, Kara Brinkmann (Middletown, Ohio) led the way for Ohio with a score of 81. She would finish the tournament in a tie for 18th with a three-round score of 239.
Kristen Helmsdoerfer (Westerville, Ohio) and Tranelli were Ohio’s next finishers, tying for 40th place at the end of the three rounds. Helmsdoerfer went 87-84-83 to arrive at her score of 254 while Tranelli shot 87-83-84.
Lauren McKinzie (Medina, Ohio) and Julie Lechner (Powell, Ohio) rounded out the competition for Ohio, placing 43rd and 45th. McKinzie shot an 89 on the final day to end with a score of 260 while Lechner carded a 92 to finish with a 267.
