RICHMOND, Ky. - Ohio Women's Golf finished competition at the 2012 Lady Colonel Classic on Saturday. The Bobcats shot a 318 on the final day and ended the tournament tied for sixth place with a team score of 944.
Akron claimed the top spot in the tournament, shooting a team score of 297 on Saturday to finish with a 914. Toledo and Morehead State were seven strokes behind this mark, tying for second with team scores of 921.
Kara Brinkmann (Middletown, Ohio) had a great tournament for the Bobcats, tying for seventh with a score of 229. The sophomore tied the best 54-hole score of her career and earned the first top-ten finish of her career.
Kristen Helmsdoerfer (Westerville, Ohio) and Megan Weaver (Canton, Ohio) were the next two finishers for Ohio, finishing within the top 25. Helmsdoerfer tied for 22nd with a three-round score of 236, ending just one shot above her career best. Weaver tied for 25th, carding an 82 on Saturday to finish with a 237.
Rounding out the competition for the Bobcats were Sarah Tranelli (Penfield, N.Y.) and Julie Lechner (Powell, Ohio). Tranelli shot her best round of the tournament on Saturday--a 78--ending the competition with a score of 242 to tie for 42nd place. Lechner shot a 253 through her three rounds of golf and ended tied for 62nd.
The Bobcats will next be in action on May 14 and 15 at the 2012 Falcon Invitational in Bowling Green, Ohio.
