ATHENS, Ohio - Kelly Lamberti had 18 kills and Ohio earned its second sweep in MAC play with a 25-14, 25-20, 25-16 victory on Dig Pink Night over archrival Miami. The Bobcats registered 13.5 total blocks and hit .354 en route to its fourth-straight home win over the RedHawks.
Trailing 3-1, Ohio scored six of the next seven points for a 7-4 lead in the first set. The Bobcats still led by three at 14-11 before taking five of the next six to push the lead to 19-12. The RedHawks scored the next two points but Ohio closed things out with a six-point run to win the set 25-14. The Bobcats amassed a match-high 7.0 blocks in the set as Faith Robins led the way with five (one solo, four assists).
The second set started out evenly but Post served up an ace to cap a three-point run for a 14-11 Bobcat lead. Miami would cut the lead back to one point on two occasions but Lamberti would end things with three-consecutive kills. Ohio took a 2-0 lead in the match with the 25-20 win. Lamberti finished with 10 kills (one error, 16 attempts) in the set as Ohio hit a match-best .455.
Ohio used three referee-awarded points and a five-point run to jump out to a 10-5 lead in the third set against the RedHawks. The lead hit its peak at nine points on a Robins kill to make it 19-10 and it never fell below seven points the rest of the way. Ohio would close things out with a 25-16 win to run its home winning streak in MAC play to five matches. The Bobcats have also won their last 17 sets against MAC opponents.
With Lamberti leading the way offensively, Katie Post had seven kills and hit .500, Chelsea Bilger added seven kills and Lexie Hartnett provided six kills while hitting .545. Bailey Karst provided 35 assists and Mollie Geske once again lead the team with 12 digs. Post and Hartnett added six blocks while Robins tied her career-high with eight.
Ohio hits the road for the first time in conference play this next week when it travels to Kent State for a Thursday night contest. On Saturday evening, the Bobcats play their first MAC West opponent when they take on Eastern Michigan in Ypsilanti at 7 p.m.
