ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio women's golf team completed round one in fourth place, shooting a combined 310 at the Cardinal Classic Saturday in Muncie, Ind. Southern Illinois currently ranks first at the tournament after shooting just under the Bobcats with a 301.
Sophomores Kara Brinkmann (Middletown, Ohio) and senior sisters Meryl Weaver (Canton, Ohio) and Megan Weaver (Canton, Ohio) lead the way with a three-way tie for 13th place, shooting a 77 each on the par-72 course. Junior Sarah Tranelli (Penfield, N.Y.) is tied for 20th place in the tournament followed by freshman Lauren Volz (Huron, Ohio) who is tied for 48th.
Ohio will resume play tomorrow for the final round of the tournament.
