ATHENS, Ohio-The Ohio baseball team picked up a pair of victories over visiting Akron to secure the series win against the Zips Sunday afternoon at Bob Wren Stadium.

The Bobcats finished Saturday's suspended game at 1 p.m. Sunday, emerging with a 7-3 victory before getting a superb effort from starting pitcher Seth Streich in the second game to notch a 1-0 win.

Ohio is now 25-26 overall and 9-15 in the Mid-American Conference, while Akron is 14-35 and 6-18 in the league.

Streich (2-6) went the distance on the mound in the third game, yielding just four hits and two walks with seven strikeouts. Akron starter Myles McVeigh (0-9) was the hard-luck loser, as he surrendered just one run on six hits with three strikeouts and no walks in six innings. Relievers Benjamin Danziger and Chris Bassitt held the Bobcats off the scoreboard in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings.

The Bobcats got the only run it needed in the sixth inning when second baseman Bryan Barnes ripped a 2-2 pitch over the wall in right for his fourth round-tripper of the season.

The Zips threatened in the ninth inning, as they got a runner to third with two outs. However, Streich got second baseman Tyler Begun swinging on his 121st pitch of the game to secure the victory.

Ohio shortstop Garrett Black and first baseman Chandler Geller picked up two hits apiece.

Prior to that game, the Bobcats nailed down Saturday's win when they picked up the action in the top of the seventh, leading 6-3. However, reliever Tyler Stage quieted the Akron bats in the three remaining innings, allowing just a hit and a walk to get his third save of the season. Starter Brent Choban (4-5) pitched six innings Saturday to get the win, allowing three runs and eight hits with three strikeouts and three walks. Zip starter Alex Loftin (2-9) took the loss after giving up six runs on 10 hits with three strikeouts and no walks on Saturday. Reliever Scott Foster came into the game on Sunday and gave up a pinch-hit solo homer to left by Ohio's Dan Ward in the eighth inning. It was Ward's team-leading eighth homer and 36th RBI of the season.

The Bobcats will wrap up the regular season when Miami comes calling for a three-game series that is set to begin Thursday at 6 p.m. ET at Bob Wren Stadium.
