A kill by Jantsch stopped the rally and another kill by the senior and one from Jacobi gave Ohio a 1-0 lead in the match.

Ohio's offensive attack was extremely balanced with six different players totaling 16 kills and hitting .343. Toledo hit just .135 and registered only 10 kills.

Some back-and-forth play followed before Toledo tacked on another point to their lead and went ahead by five (17-12). UT continued to distance themselves and the lead sat at 22-13 before Ohio mounted a rally with four points to force a timeout at 22-17. Despite stealing momentum, Ohio could not get any closer and dropped the second set.

Ohio jumped out 6-2 after the break and when the lead hit five at 10-5, Toledo used a timeout to try and quell the run. However, the stoppage would not halt the Bobcat attack as four more points went Ohio's way and the lead increased to 14-5.
