ATHENS, Ohio â€" The Ohio Bobcats men’s basketball team extended its non-conference home winning streak to 29 games with a 93-82 win over visiting NC A&T Tuesday night at the Convo.

A 3-pointer just eight seconds into the game by the Aggies’ Nic Simpson gave NC A&T its only lead of the game.

A 22-10 run that started five minutes into the first half put Ohio up by 16, a lead from which the Bobcats would never look back. Over the six and a half minute run, Ohio scored on nine of 10 offensive possessions and connected on four of six three-point attempts.

Ohio was once against strong from beyond the three-point arc and took advantage of opportunities on the free throw line and off turnovers. The Bobcats shot 42.9% (12 of 28) from deep. Ohio converted on 21 of 26 free throw attempts (80.8%) and scored 23 points off 16 forced turnovers.

For the third consecutive game, a different player led the Bobcats in the scoring column.

Tuesday was Jay Kinney’s (Champaign, Ill.) turn atop the leaderboard, as the freshman scored a game-high 23 points in just his second collegiate game. Kinney was perfect on four free throw attempts and also dished out five assists on the night.

Fellow freshman D.J. Cooper (Chicago, Ill.) scored in double-figures for the third consecutive game, finishing with a career-high 15 points and pulling down eight rebounds.

Ohio senior Kenneth van Kempen (Weert, the Netherlands) set a new career-high with 11 rebounds to lead the Bobcats on the boards.

Junior DeVaughn Washington (Virginia Beach, Va.) scored 18 points, while sophomore Steven Coleman (Melbourne, Fla.) added 12 points. Coleman also collected eight rebounds and led the Bobcats with seven assists.

Tommy Freeman (Muncie, Ind.) finished with nine points, all of three-point shots, while freshman Reggie Keely scored six points and pulled down six rebounds.

Simpson was the high-scorer for the Aggies, finishing with 22 points, while Tavarus Alston added 10 points.

After playing three games in five days, Ohio will take a much-needed week-long break before hosting Lamar at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 23.
