BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Behind record-breaking efforts from junior Bahiyjaui Allen and senior Jessie Tanner, the Bobcat indoor track and field team finished sixth of nine teams at the BGSU Women's Challenge Saturday. Allen won the shot put with a mark of 49-05.00, breaking her indoor school record by two inches. Tanner finished second in the weight throw and broke her indoor school record with a heave of 55-09.75, bettering the previous mark by a half inch.
Junior Emily Amendola placed second in the shot put with a toss of 45-04.50 and eighth in the weight throw. Allen, along with her win, finished third in the weight throw. Tanner, along with her runner-up performance, finished fifth for Ohio in the shot put.
In the jumps, junior Cathy Udeani placed sixth in the high jump, while Ashlee Reynolds finished 10th. Senior Brittany Vinson came in eighth in the triple jump and 11th in the long jump, and fellow senior Christen Bosch placed 10th in the pole vault.
On the track, the distance runners excelled for the Bobcats. Freshman Kristen Altenburger came in seventh in the 5,000 meters, followed by sophomore Darby Mullen in ninth and junior Abigail Swift in tenth. In the 3,000 meters, junior Jenielle Hunt finished ninth.
In the sprints, senior Melissa Wiley had the best day for Ohio, placing 11th in both the 60-meter hurdles and the 200-meter dash.
Cincinnati claimed the team title, followed by Mid-American Conference members Miami, Ball State, Eastern Michigan and host Bowling Green.
