NASHPORT, Ohio - The Ohio women's golf team wrapped up its participation in the Mid-American Conference Championship Sunday afternoon with a fifth place finish.
At Longaberger Golf Club, the Ohio women compiled a four-round score of 1303, just two strokes behind Toledo in fourth place. The Bobcats recorded a 328 on Sunday, their highest score single-round score in the tournament.
Senior Kristen Mautz (Upper Arlington, Ohio) was Ohio's top finisher in the event when she placed 10th with a four-round total of 319, a 79.75 averaged. She finished with a team-high eight birdies in the tourney.
Fellow senior Meredith Waterston (Bloomington, Minn.) finished tied for 14th with a tournament score of 324 for an 81 average. She recorded six birdies, and was the tournament's best par-3 golfer with an even score on such holes.
Junior Katie Stafford's (Phoenix, Ariz.) shot a 330 - including an 81 on Sunday - in the three-day tournament to finish in a tie for 21st. She recorded three birdies, 33 pars and averaged a 82.5 in the event.
Sophomore Lindsay Bergman (Blacklick, Ohio) finished in a tie for 25th in the tournament with a four-round 334 composite score for an average of 83.5
Rounding out Ohio's participation, senior Shanna Siefke (Toledo, Ohio) compiled a 345 in the tournament for an average of 86.25.
Kent State captured the MAC team title for the ninth year in a row with a 1203, 49 strokes ahead of Eastern Michigan. KSU's Kira Meixner took the individual medal with a seven-over 295, four strokes ahead of teammate Tara Delaney. Delaney took home MAC Golfer of the Year honors for the second year in a row.
Sunday's action drew to an end Ohio's 2006-07 schedule.
