NASHPORT, Ohio - Three rounds into the 2007 Mid-American Conference Championship, the Ohio women's golf team has maintained its fifth-place position heading into Sunday's final round.
At Longaberger Golf Club, the Ohio women combined to shoot a 321 on Saturday, but were not able to improve on their position in the team standings from Friday's 36 holes. The Bobcats will enter Sunday's final round just three strokes behind Toledo for fourth place. Kent State maintains a healthy 40-stroke lead over Eastern Michigan as it vies for the team title.
Kristen Mautz (Upper Arlington, Ohio) led all Ohio golfers with a 78 on Saturday, and her 54-hole score of 239 has her tied for 11th overall among the field of 40 competitors.
Meredith Waterston (Bloomington, Minn.), Lindsay Bergman (Blacklick, Ohio) and Katie Stafford's (Phoenix, Ariz.) all shot 81s on Saturday for Ohio. Waterston sits in 16th place after three rounds with 242 while Bergman and Stafford are tied for 23rd with 249s.
Coming off an injury that sidelined her last weekend, Shanna Siefke (Toledo, Ohio) continued to struggle on Saturday. She shot a 92 in the third round and will enter Sunday tied for 35th with a 260 composite.
Waterston led the team with three birdies on Saturday, and paces the entire tournament field in par-three scoring with a 2.92 average.
KSU's Kira Meixner is the individual leader with a two-over 218, two strokes ahead of teammate Tara Delaney.
Sunday's fourth and final round is scheduled to commence with tee times at 8 a.m.
