COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio women's golf squad completed its participation in the Lady Buckeyes Spring Invitational with a 333 in Sunday's final round.
With Sunday's scores in the books, the Bobcats finished at the bottom of the team standings with a 54-hole composite of 1001 in the six-count-four, 14-team tournament. Purdue, ranked 12th nationally, took the team title with an 891, 20 strokes ahead of 22nd-ranked Michigan State.
Kristen Mautz (Upper Arlington, Ohio) led the Bobcats in the tourney with a 54-hole score of 239, which tied her for 26th in the field of 87 competitors.
Meredith Waterston (Bloomington, Minn.), the reigning Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week, finished second on Ohio's card and tied for 60th overall with a 251. Her 78 on Sunday was the lowest round for a Bobcat golfer this weekend.
Katie Stafford's (Phoenix, Ariz.) 91 on Sunday pushed her three-round total to 259, which placed her in 76th in the tournament. Lindsay Bergman (Blacklick, Ohio) was just behind her in a tie for 79th with a 264.
Also competing for Ohio, Colleen Lienesch (Centerville, Ohio) and Lauren Bergman (Blacklick, Ohio) finished 81st and tied for 83rd, respectively. Lienesch compiled a 265 three-round score while Bergman shot a 268.
Purdue's Maria Hernandez took the individual medal with a one-under 215, three strokes ahead of teammate Christel Boeljon.
The Ohio women will wrap up their schedule by participating in the MAC Tournament, April 27-29, in Heath, Ohio.
