INDIAN SPRINGS, Ohio - With a 54-hole score of 221 (75-71-75), Ohio University senior Ana Brown sits in second place at the Mid-American Conference Women's Golf Championships, shattering her previous best score for three rounds by eight strokes.
Brown, a native of West Chester, Ohio, carded the Bobcats' lowest score on Saturday with a 75 as Ohio maintained fourth place in the team standings heading into Sunday's final round.
The Bobcats are 49 strokes off the lead with a team mark of 931 (302-315-314). Kent State leads the eight-team field with a score of 882 (295-289-298) while second-place Ball State sits at 919 (309-207-303) and third-place Toledo is at 921 (305-309-307).
Ohio junior Shanna Siefke (Toledo, Ohio) shot a 77 on Saturday to move herself into a tie for 18th place out of 40 individual competitors. Bobcat senior Julie Tomlinson (Noblesville, Ind.), meanwhile, continued to slip down the standings as a third-round 83 placed her in a tie for 21st.
Also competing for Ohio are juniors Kristen Mautz (Upper Arlington, Ohio) and Meredith Waterston (Bloomington, Minn.). Mautz is 25th with a 54-hole score of 238 (75-84-79) and Waterston is tied for 39th at 251 (79-85-87).
Kent State's Tara Delaney continues to lead the tournament as the sophomore from Carlow, Ireland, holds a three-round mark of 216 (73-69-74). Her teammates Kira Meixner and Kirby Dreher are tied for third place at 222, just one stroke behind Brown.
Sunday's final 18 holes on the 5,822-yard, par-72 Walden Pond Golf Club course will begin at 8 a.m. Final results will be posted at ohiobobcats.com, the official site of Ohio Athletics.
