FINDLAY, Ohio - The Ohio wrestling team suffered just its second dual meet loss of the season Friday, an 18-15 defeat at the hands of Findlay at Croy Gymnasium.
Ohio's (5-2) only other loss of the season in dual meet action came to Big Ten member Indiana. Findlay entered the week ranked 19th in the latest NCAA Division II wrestling rankings.
Freshman Seth Morton (Canal Winchester, Ohio) started things off on a positive note for Ohio with a 5-1 win over Alex Schumaker at 125 pounds. After a Roughneck win at 133 pounds evened the score, freshman Kevin Christensen (Springfield, Ohio) put the Bobcats back on top with a 5-2 win at 141 pounds. Christensen trailed late in the match but earned two points on a reversal with nine seconds left for the win.
The 149-pound match up featured the only pin of the match as Sean Dong earned the win via pin-fall for the Roughnecks. Antonio Guerra made it back-to-back wins for Findlay with a victory at 157 pounds to give the Roughnecks a healthy advantage heading into the final five matches.
Junior Antione Love (Gahanna, Ohio) and freshman Jacob Ison (Batavia, Ohio) continued their hot starts to the season as they posted back-to-back wins to get the Bobcats back in the match. Ison topped Findlay's Justin Shannon 7-3 to earn his team-best 12th win of the season. Ison is now 12-5 on the year. Love earned a 9-4 win over Jeff Havelka at 174 pounds to improve his season mark to 10-2.
The Bobcats were unable to draw any closer with one-point losses at 184 and 197 pounds. Senior Marcus Adelman (Alliance, Ohio) earned a win at the heavyweight division to finish the scoring at 18-15.
Ohio will be back in action Sunday at the Purdue Duals. The Bobcats will face off with Indianapolis, Carson-Newman and Purdue, with action beginning at 10:00 a.m.
