HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - After two rounds of its season-opening event, the Ohio women's golf team stands in third place at the Lady Herd Fall Invitational. Tuesday's final round at the 6,035-yard, par-72 Guyan Golf and Country Club course will begin at 9 a.m.
With a two-round team score of 638 (325-313), the Bobcats trail host Marshall (307-301) by 30 strokes and Eastern Kentucky (314-315) by just nine strokes. Behind Ohio in the eight-team tournament are William & Mary at 640 (327-313), Murray State at 650 (331-319), Longwood University at 657 (339-318) and Austin Peay State (335-330) and Dartmouth College (329-336) at 665.
Bobcat senior Ana Brown (West Chester, Ohio) led the Green and White with a 36-hole score of 156 (77-79), tying her for eighth place among the 50 individual competitors. With scores of 160, senior Julie Tomlinson (Noblesville, Ind.) and junior Shanna Siefke (Toledo, Ohio) are tied for 11th place while junior Meredith Waterston (Bloomington, Minn.) is tied for 26th at 165 (85-80) and junior Kristen Mautz (Upper Arlington, Ohio) is tied for 39th at 169 (82-87).
In her first collegiate tournament, Ohio freshman Lindsay Bergman (Blacklick, Ohio) is tied for 26th with a 165 (87-78). Since Bergman is playing unattached, her score is not applied to the Bobcats' team score.
Ohio is the defending champion at the event, having won last year's seven-team tournament by 10 strokes over Toledo.
