KALAMAZOO, Mich. ? The Ohio softball team suffered a 2-1 loss to Western Michigan, as the Broncos completed the three-game sweep Sunday afternoon at Ebert Field.
Ohio broke the 0-0 deadlock in the fifth to take a 1-0 lead. Robin Miller drew a walk to start the inning. Debbie Szalejko, who pinch ran for Miller, stole second and third base before freshman Courtney Waters singled to center field, scoring Szalejko.
In the sixth inning the Broncos would rally. Amanda Heckaman?s double deep to center field would score two runners that had got on base with a singles to put Western Michigan up 2-1. The Broncos would hold Ohio scoreless in the seventh to seal the victory.
The Bobcats, looking for their first conference win, return to Athens for their home opener Wednesday at the Ohio Softball Field versus Central Michigan. The first pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
