    Greenville, N.C. -- The Ohio softball team nabbed its first win of the 2005 season on Saturday, knocking off Fordham 10-6 on day two of the Pirate Classic. The Bobcats dropped a pair of decisions on the first day of competition and split two games on day two. Ohio fell in quarterfinal action to wrap-up its first tournament of the season on Sunday.


    The College of Charleston knocked off the Bobcats 9-1, while Villanova edged past Ohio 4-2 on Friday afternoon to open up the 2005 campaign.

    The College of Charleston jumped out to an early 3-0 lead on Friday, an advantage that the Bobcats couldn't overcome.

    Ohio (1-3) posted a run in the first against Villanova, but the Wildcats scored the game's next four runs and took control for good.

    Ohio fell 9-0 in a five-inning affair against host-school East Carolina and knocked off Fordham on Saturday.

    Against Fordham, the Bobcats scored three in the first, four in the fourth and three in the sixth to take the victory.

    Ohio fell 12-0 in quarterfinal action of the Classic to East Carolina on Sunday to wrap-up its first tournament of the season

    Next up for the Bobcats is a trip to Baton Rouge, La., for the LSU Purple & Gold Challenge on March 4-6.
