BUFFALO, N.Y. - The 23rd-ranked Ohio volleyball team swept its ninth straight opponent in defeating Mid-American Conference opponent Buffalo 3-0 (30-20, 30-11, 30-19) here tonight.
The Bobcats extended their winning streak against MAC opponents to 31 and their consecutive games winning streak to 27 with the win. Ohio moves to 17-2 overall and 7-0 in the conference. Buffalo falls to 8-13 overall and 0-7 in conference action.
Stephanie Blackburn (Cincinnati, Ohio) led the Bobcat offense with 16 kills while hitting .394 for the match. Three players joined Blackburn in double-digit kills with Melissa Griffin (Whitehall, Mich.) recording 12 kills, Julia Winkfield (Newark, Ohio) 11 and Jenna Gaughran (Centerville, Ohio) a season-high 10.
Ohio hit. 360 as a team, tying the Tennessee match for its second-best output of the season. The game marked the fifth straight match and eighth time in the last nine matches it hit .300 or better.
Savanah Parra (Temecula, Calif.) had a solid all-around performance. Parra set the Bobcat attack with 45 assists, dug 11 balls for her third consecutive double-double and matched her season-high with three service aces. Michaele Blackburn (Cincinnati, Ohio) led the back row defense with 24 digs while Gaughran tallied 10 digs for her first career double-double.
The Bobcats will be back in action tomorrow night when they play at Akron. The match is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
