Taijiro Koyama joined Ohio’s athletic training staff in 2024 and is the primary trainer for the track and field and cross country teams.
 
Prior to joining Ohio’s staff, Taijiro worked as an athletic training fellow at the University of Michigan, where he served the men’s and women’s cross country and track and field teams.
 
Taijiro completed his athletic training graduate assistantship at Normal Community West High School in Normal, Illinois. He worked with over 15 high school teams and collaborated with other full-time athletic trainers to serve student-athletes. 
 
Taijiro also has athletic training experience at the NCAA DIII level working with baseball, men’s and women’s cross country, gymnastics, indoor and outdoor track and field, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, ice hockey, softball, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, volleyball and wrestling.
 
Taijiro received his Bachelor of Social Welfare at Nihon Fukushi University in Chita-Gun, Aichi, Japan. He obtained his Associate’s Degree in Science from Genesee Community College in Batavia, New York, and went on to complete his Bachelor of Science at SUNY Brockport. He received his Master of Science in Kinesiology and Recreation from Illinois State University.
