Steve Jones

Steve Jones joined the Ohio volleyball staff as an assistant coach in August 2023. Since joining the staff, Jones has assumed the responsibility of the team’s block training and philosophies.
 
In 2024, Ohio finished with a 14-15 overall and 10-8 conference record. Jones helped Kharchynska and Hunt achieve All-MAC honors. Under Jones, Ohio averaged 1.76 blocks per set this season. The Bobcats consistently ranked in the top five of the conference for opponent hitting percentage.
 
During the 2023 season, Jones and the Bobcats once again made an appearance in the MAC Quarterfinals. Jones helped Ohio finish with an 18-13 overall and 13-5 conference record. With the help of Jones, Ohio’s blocks per set improved to 1.96 per set from 1.54 per set from the previous season. O’Farrell and Kharchynska both received All-MAC First Team honors while Kam Hunt was named to the MAC All-Freshman Team.
 
Prior to Ohio, Jones served as the Penn State’s women’s volleyball volunteer coach in fall 2020. He also served as a practice player and student manager with the Nittany Lions from 2017-2019. At Penn State, Jones played club volleyball from 2015-2019 serving as the club’s president from 2018-19 and treasurer from 2017-18.
